What is PrEP?

PrEP is short for pre-exposure prophylaxis. PrEP is a medication taken by an HIV-negative person that prevents them from getting HIV. The most widely available form of PrEP is a once-daily oral pill. A vaginal ring containing medication has also been proven effective. Other methods of PrEP are currently being studied.
